Following the discovery of three beakers in small pits during the construction of Glenferness Avenue in 1931, J B Calkin excavated a small trial trench which revealed a small area 4-5 yards away from the Beakers, which contained a few reddish burnt flints and a fragment of charcoal about 18 inches below the surface. A trench running up the road was also examined for evidence of a barrow ditch but none was found and the ground surface was entirely flat. (1)
