‘SUMO Geophysics Ltd were commissioned to undertake a geophysical survey of an area outlined for development. This survey forms part of an archaeological investigation being undertaken by Orion Heritage on behalf of Wyatt Homes.’
‘Detailed magnetic survey (magnetometry) was chosen as the most efficient and effective method of locating the type of archaeological anomalies which might be expected at this site.’
‘A detailed magnetometer survey was conducted over approximately 2.2 ha of land off North Street, Charminster. No definite archaeological anomalies have been identified. A few tentative linear and curvilinear trends of uncertain origin have been mapped, along with areas of magnetic enhancement that also have an undetermined provenance. Possible ridge and furrow or potential strip fields have been detected, along with areas of natural variation and ferrous disturbance.’
The map is limited to 3000 records per layer so not all records are being displayed for this area. Zoom in to see more.
