Description
Three test pits were excavated in advance of development. Test Pit 1 was 0.5m square and was dug in the within the footprint of the proposed new house. It revealed topsoil 0.3m thick above natural sand. Test Pit 2 (1.2m by 1.2m) was sited in a slightly domed area of the garden. This proved to be the result of garden landscaping probably using imported topsoil. Test Pit 3 (0.3m by 0.3m) was sited to investigate a slight rise towards the northern boundary of the property. This test pit revealed a 0.3m thickness of topsoil over natural sand. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered. Poole Museum Reference No.PMO 82/DR7.
