Description
An archaeological evaluation comprising eight machine trenches was carried out by AC archaeology in 1994 to determine the nature and survival of potential archaeological deposits at Tatnam Farm, Poole. The investigation demonstrated that much of the area had formerly been marsh and infilled to create the present land surface of the playing field and the west end of the allotments. The former marsh is represented by deposits of peat which thicken towards the west of the proposed development area. No archaeological artefacts or features were located, but there may be some potential for prehistoric activity within the peat below the limits of this investigation, but which may not be affected by the proposed development.
