Description

Archaeological evaluation comprising geophysical survey and trial pitting. This phase of work followed earlier evaluative excavations in 1985 (at well site 'K') which had already identified a major double bank and ditch system (surviving partially as an earthwork) as being of Iron Age date (c.50BC - 50AD). The E side and NE corner of this enclosure were to be impacted by the proposed development.
