Description

Bath Archaeological Trust conducted an archaeological evaluation in two stages between 22nd and 26th April 2002 and 26th June and 2nd July 2002 at the Town Library, South Street, Wareham. The evaluation comprised the excavation of four test pits which revealed medieval and post-medieval pottery and deposits and a medieval ditch. The southern half of the site comprised modern dumped material overlying natural gravel. The northern part of the site comprised a higher gravel terrace with in situ archaeological remains. These remains include a ditch that was infilled during the 14th century. [1]
