Description
An evaluation carried out in advance of a residential development in the garden of Lansdowne Villa. Two test pits were dug by hand, revealing garden deposits immediately overlying natural subsoil. The garden soil was a dark brown silty clay loam with fragments of brick, glass, coal, flower pot etc between 30 and 35 cm deep. It overlay a natural subsoil consisting of a yellowish-brown soft silty clay containing rounded flint gravel (5-10cm across). No archaeological finds, features or deposits were found.
