Description

An assessment following an archaeological assessment by CPM, concentrating on the site's geomorphology. It concludes that the site has been marginal land since the Mesolithic, used for hunting and fishing, unlikely to contain archaeological remains though any remains may well include well-preserved organic materials. The only impact on a site of regional importance noted was the digging of a drainage trench through the former 16th century defences of Portland Castle, a watching brief was recommended.
