Description

The Rev J Austen opened this round barrow on July 16th, 1857. There was a central burial pit containing a contracted inhumation with a piece of antler placed near the head. Several other antler fragments were found in the fill of the pit. An extended inhumation burial oriented E-W was found roughly at the level of the old ground surface in the eastern part of the barrow. This was probably an inserted later burial. (1) NMR UID: 650527
