Description
A machine trench was excavated by Poole Museums at Pilkington Tiles Ltd, Hamworthy in 1979. A small roughly circular hearth 0.5 m diameter and 0.14 m thick was found. It was sealed below a 0.2 m thick layer of grey green silt containing small briquetage fragments. Neither the hearth nor the silt layer was closely dated.
