Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
Detached house set back in garden. The centre block appears to date from about 1690 or 1700 and so must have escaped the fire of 1731. On the South side there is a segmental stone pediment dated 1689.

Full Description
DALE HOUSE. No. 79 Salisbury Street, is now the Constitutional Club. The Bastards' town plan indicates that the nucleus of the building survived the 1731 fire, and this is confirmed by the stone entrance doorway dated 1689. The original building was more than doubled in size in the first half of the 19th century by additional wings to N. and W., and it was again enlarged about 30 years later. In 1930 the entrance doorway was transferred from the E. to the S. front. <2-3>
