Summary

ST 60 SW ST 6000 0338 - 6090 0210 O.S. 1:10,000 Parallel linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs within a field on the north side of Long Ash Lane, Frome St Quintin, centred ST 6024 0342. The linear ditches run southeast to northwest along the line of the Roman road and may be associated with this feature. They continue into an area of possible post medieval extraction (MDO43066) and are not visible beyond this area. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

Parallel linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs within a field on the north side of Long Ash Lane, Frome St Quintin, centred ST 6024 0342 (1). The linear ditches run southeast to northwest along the line of the Roman road and may be associated with this feature. They continue into an area of possible post medieval extraction (MDO43066) and are not visible beyond this area. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. They are still visible as cropmarks on 2002 and later Google Earth imagery (2).
