Full Description

Early 19th century three-storey yellow brick house with stone plinth and string. It has a symmetrical three-bay façade with three ranges of sash windows. Central doorway in three-centred arched head with moulded imposts and fanlight. A good example of an early 19th century middle class townhouse in Bridport. <1> No. 32 South Street was the residence of Stephen Whetham from 1818. It had extensive grounds, outbuildings (including stables and carriage shed) and a large warehouse fronting Gundry Lane at the rear of the property. <1> <2> Early 19th century house. Yellow brick. 3 storeys. Stone plinth and string. Moulded eaves cornice. 3 ranges of sashes with glazing bars. Door with 6 moulded panels in doorway with 3 centred arched head, moulded imposts and fanlight. South side slate hung. <7>
