Summary
The West Bay Methodist Chapel was built in 1849 by Messrs Cox and Sons, Shipbuilders of West Bay. The walls are rubble stone, faced with stucco on the sides, and a pitched slate roof with coped gable ends. There is a projecting wooden north porch with concave canopy-shaped roof. The chapel was damaged during military exercises in preparation for D-Day in 1944. The chapel closed in May 2007.

Full Description
The West Bay Methodist Chapel stands on East Beach, West Bay, between Clarence House and the Bridport Arms. It is sometimes known as 'The Chapel on the Beach'. It was built in 1849 by Messrs Cox and Sons, Shipbuilders of West Bay -- John Cox had been leader of the West Bay Wesleyan Society since 1828. The walls are rubble stone, faced with stucco on the sides, and a pitched slate roof with coped gable ends. There is a projecting wooden north porch with panelled sides, full entablature with projecting eaves and concave canopy-shaped roof with finial. The windows have round heads. (1)
