Eighteenth century house with brick walls, with stone quoins and details and a tiled roof behind parapet and a brick chimney stacks.

(SU 00880021) A house, now part of a theatre, is two storeyed, with brick walls with ashlar dressings and a tiled roof. It dates form the second half of the 18th century and although much altered was originally a town house of some importance. In the east front the lower storey has been obliterated. The upper storey, symmetrical and of five bays, retains original square-headed sashed windows, the central opening having a moulded ashlar surround with scrolled cheek-pieces. Rusticated ashlar quoins define the corners of the building and the facade is crowned by a moulded stone cornice with a brick parapet. <1> An 18th century house which was used as a cinema in the 20th century. The two storey building is built of brick with stone quoins and a tiled roof behind a parapet. The front elevation of the whole ground floor has been removed for the installation of modern shop fronts and the cinema entrance; however the brick arches and keystones of the former four windows remain. To the first floor there are five 6/6 double hung sash windows with glazing bars. The centre window has a classical stone surround. The attic has two dormers with hipped roofs and casement windows. The cinema has now closed. <2>
