Summary

Surface finds of coarse black pottery of late Iron Age/Romano-British date. This is probably the site of a mid-nineteenth century find of a skeleton and a black vase thought to be Roman.

Full Description

Stonyhills, Little Bredy, SY 582888. A "skeleton and a black vase thought to be Roman" are recorded, in a mid 19th century manuscript in the Bridehead Archive as being found "when the Foxholes road was being made and "some of the stone came from the little hill jutting out into the valley". The site was searched by Bailey and coarse black was found by him in 1980. <1>
