Full Description

Field Systems plotted from air photographs. <1> Strip lynchets: On a N.W. slope are four terraces about 370 yards long, a further two terraces on a N.E slope, and short lengths of six terraces on an E slope. <2> A: SY 54589109; B: SY 54839092; C: SY 55049104 All the areas are grass, or grass and tree covered. In areas A and C the lynchets are set in a NNE-SSW direction, closely spaced and parallel. In area B the lynchets are set in a NW-SE direction. The terraces formed are from 10.0 to 20.0m wide, and the lynchets from 0.5m to 2.5m high.<3> Medieval field system comprising medieval lynchets and terraces, visible as earthworks on aerial photographs <4>.
