Full Description

(ST 62262103) This cross consists of a broken shaft in its socket stone, now largely shattered, set into a square rubble base, which stands on a calvary of two steps. The overall height is 1.4m. The socket stone and the calvary are made from the same soft stone but the former is probably the older as it is more heavily weathered. The shaft is of a lighter coloured stone and probably of later date than the socket stone. Little weathering can be seen on the square rubble base which may be contemporary with the calvary. (1) Churchyard cross....square to octaganol shaft on square to octagonal base, 15th cent. (2) As described. See ground photograph. (3) No change. Surveyed at 1:2500 on PFD. (4)
