Full Description
[ST 59391061] UPBURY FARM [T.I.] (1)
UPBURY FARM: The house is of two storeys, with rubble walls and stone slated roofs.
It was built in the 15thc with a central one storey hall, an upper storey added in the 16thc, and the house further altered in the 17thc. There are external features of all these periods, and some
16thc. work internally, with a collar-beam roof. (2)
The house and out-buildings are still called UPBURY FARM. I have never been able to ascertain the origin of the house whether it was built as a Manor House, or as an ecclesiastical building. (3)
The old part of the house consists of a N.-S. block. The E. face has blocked 15thc hall windows and a stone doorway with a pointed arch.
The windows in present use are of modern construction, but the house is in a good state of repair. (4)
