Full Description

A Bronze Age bowl barrow on Long Barrow Hill. The site is one of a group of monuments in the vicinity of the Long Bredy bank barrow (MDO1509) and is clearly visible on aerial photographs. {1-3} One of seven bowl barrows, also near a bank barrow and a long barrow. 36ft. in diam and 3.5ft. high. Four grass covered bowl barrows, with diameters from 10.0m to 12.0m and from 0.6m to 1.0m high. Very vague ditches may be seen surrounding barrows A and C, but these ditches are unsurveyable. <5> A bowl barrow, one of a group of monuments clustered in the vicinity of the Long Bredy bank barrow (SY 59 SE 27). Listed by RCHME as Long Bredy 8 (f) and by Grinsell as Long Bredy 11, it was described by RCHME as a mound 36 feet in diameter and 3.5 feet high. Ordnance Survey field investigation in 1955 noted vague traces of a surrounding ditch. <4> <5> <6> <8> <9>
