Summary
Medieval field system comprising strip lynchets and terraces surviving as earthworks. Centred at SY 55619110 the terraces run in a north-south direction, with another set at right angles in an east-west direction in the northern half of the area. The terraces average 7metres in width and 2 metres in height. At SY 5588 9111 is a series of north-south terraces, from 0.5 metres to 3.5 metres in height, but of varying widths.

Field Systems[STRIP LYNCHETS]:- Taken from Air photos in Jany-March 1949. By R.J.C Atkinson. <1>
Strip lynchets: eight well preserved terraces on an E. slope, with a further six terraces at right angles to them.
In LONG BREDY parish some lynchets form an angle with the contours, with terraces 7 to 15 yards wide. <2>
Two areas of pronounced strip lynchets and terraces, both grass covered.
A: the terraces, run in a N-S. direction, with other set at right angles in an E-W direction in the N. half of the area. The terraces average 7.0m. Wide and 2.0m. High. (Centred at SY 55619110. JWS)
B. A series of N-S. terraces, from 0.5m to 3.5m. High, but of varying widths. Parts of these field systems are visible on A.P. CPE/UK/2431/3150-51 (Centred at SY 5588 9111. JWS). <3>
