Summary
Well-preserved polychrome brick villa, built about 1865, 2 storeys and basement, in mixed Italianate style. Bought by Bournemouth Natural Science Society in 1919. Lecture hall in similar style added in about 1930.

Full Description
Well-preserved polychrome villa, circa 1865, 2 storeys and basement, in mixed style. Buff brick on grey brick plinth, red brick bands, bright red brick lintels and voussoirs - windows, round-arched, segmental or flat-headed being strongly linked in groups of 2, 3, 4 or 5. 3-storey corner tower with pyramid tiled roof, cast-iron finial and flanking chimney, timber cornice over row of tiny straight-headed attic windows, with brick panelling to 'belfry'. Timber porch up steps against tower, heavily chamfered openwork framing and balustrading, half hipped roof. Lower eastern wing extending front to 2-storey gable. Garden front has rectangular bay window. Lecture hall to south-east in similar style, but of 1920.
