Full Description

Formerly Martin's Bank, circa l860-70. 4 storey Italianate, with splayed corner to Albert Road answering that of Lloyds Bank. Ground floor Portland stone, Ionic columns with block rustication supporting entablature (2 rows of dentils to cornice). Main entrance on corner has similar Ionic columns supporting open scrolly pediment (ornate arabesque carving ) on console brackets. Good subsidiary entrance in Albert Road with intricately rusticated surround and god's head on keystone. Upper floors colour-washed brick with stucco dressings: 3 windows on each front, 1st floor with triangular pediments. Rusticated pilasters at corners. Cornices over 2nd and 3rd floors, panelled flat parapet on top.
