Please read our guidance about the use of Dorset Historic Environment Record data.
Summary
A lime kiln recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map, and ‘old limekiln’ on the 1927 revision of the Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who noted that most (60-79%) of the kiln structure survived in good condition, and that it had a rounded, stone-built draw arch.
