Monument record MDO1566 - Lime Kiln at Bradford Lane, Longburton

Please read our .

Summary

A lime kiln recorded as ‘limekiln’ on the second edition (1900-1902) Ordnance Survey map, but not marked on the 1927 revision of the Ordnance Survey map. The date of this kiln is not known but it is most likely to be late nineteenth century. The site was visited in 1992-93 by Peter Stanier, who noted that very little (1-19%) of the kiln structure survived in fair condition, but that it was not possible to determine what type of kiln construction this was. The kiln is also recorded in Countryside Treasures in Dorset – West Dorset Part 2 and the AMR has a photocopy of the site map.
