Full Description
The shaft of this churchyard cross is 3ft 3ins high, tapering sharply towards the top. The socket stone is 3ft square and 1ft 8ins deep. It is possible that the shaft is not the original one, which from the socket stone would seem to have been more massive. The cross is said to have been placed in position in comparatively recent times by a former Rector. <6>
"I do no know of a former site of the churchyard cross". <7>
SY59649787 Descriptions in <6> correct. Although the socket stone is massive in relation to the shaft, the hole in the socket stone does fit the base of the shaft. Graphical material omitted. <8>
