Full Description

Horton Tower, a 'folly' of six storeys with brick walls, dates from about the middle of the 18th century. It is called 'Horton Observatory' on Taylor's map of Dorset 1765. <1-2> A folly in the form of a six-storey brick tower, built around the middle of the 18th century. The building is called ‘Horton Observatory’ on a map of 1765. The site is visible as an extant structure on aerial photographs <5> and was recorded during the Dorset Stour NMP.
