Full Description
30/17 II Downshay Farmhouse. House in rubble, ashlar and stone slate. L-shaped plan. 2s Stone mullioned windows. East elevation has 2 projecting wings between which is 2s. porch, with semi-circular-headed arch to entrance. Internally there are panelling and other contemporary features. C.17. <1>
Dunshay Manor of roughly square plan with two gables flanking a central porch is of two storeys and dates from the 17th century although partly rebuilt in 1906. The house is presumed to stand on the site of a medieval manor house which Leland stated belonged to Alice Breuer (circa 1220), who gave marble from her quarries (see SY 97 NE 3) for the building of Salisbury Cathedral. <3>

Dunshay Manor is as described by authorities<1> and <2> but in <1> it is wrongly named Downshay Farmhouse which is a modern building 100m to the SE. <6>
