Summary

A surface scatter of mostly coarse pottery found between 1947 and 1950 at the southern end of the plantation known as The Nursery, situated on the west bank of the River Brit. The pottery included flat-rimmed and flanged bowls suggesting a third-or fourth century date.

Full Description

(ST 47710088) Coarse black Romano-British pottery, including lst century bead rim pottery and various flanged platter types of 1st to 4th centuries, found by A W J Cobham, 1947-50. <1> Sherds of Romano-British coarse were, including flat-rimmed 'pie-dishes' and 3rd or 4th century flanged dishes, also an Iron Age C (Durotrigian) bead rim, were found between 1947 and 1950 by Captain Cobham at the south end of the Nursery plantation, ST 477008. <2>
