Full Description

Church of St Nicholas. The West tower and North nave wall are all that survive of the C14th church. The tower was not completed until the C15th when the North porch was added. The chancel was rebuilt 1877-8 when the south aisle and South arcade was built, or rebuilt. Font of late C11th date. <1> <3> In a discussion of whether Chaldon Herring might have had minster status, Hall suggests that the evidence supports it being a high status church, but there is not enough evidence to support its inclusion as a minster. <4>
