Full Description
"The Abbey Gate or porter's lodge" at Bindon Abbey, shown on plan but not described. <1>
This building contains stones similar to the abbey but the foundation stones alone seem ancient. The structure appears to have been mainly rebuilt in modern times. Now in use as a caretaker's residence. <3>
Gatehouse, situated 60 yards south west of 'Bindon Abbey' house has rubble walls with brick dressings and embattled parapet, and was probably built between 1794-98. The west elevation is divided into three bays by four buttresses rising to crockted pinnacles; in the centre bay is a carriage entrance with a brick two-centred arch. <4>
