Full Description

Found during the excavations to the north of Maiden Castle Road undertaken by Wessex Archaeology in 1987 in advance of the Dorchester By-pass construction. The following description is abstracted from the final published report on the site (1). Two shallow ditches at right angles, aligned N-S and E-W. Their small size and shape separates them from the larger and deeper Roman boundaries on the site. No datable finds were recovered. They are most likely medieval or post-medieval field boundary ditches.
