Full Description
A barrow near White Horse, 'north of a much larger one and close to the wagon track' was opened by E Cunnington and numbered No.26. It produced a primary cremation in an urn, probably Mid Bronze Age, which had 'two string patterns near the mouth' and was in a cist. Near the top were fragments of an intrusive inhumation. <2>
No further information was obtained during field investigation to enable the excavation report Warne to be attached to a particular barrow. From the topographical description the barrow may be one of the group. <3>
Osmington 2a. Barrow listed, unlocated. Details as Authy 1. The primary cremation was probably Early/Mid Bronze Age. <4>
The East Hill Group of round barrows consists of: 'L'- (SY 71448453) Ditched bowl barrow, 18ft diameter x 1ft high with ditch 8ft wide x 6ins deep. Not listed by Grinsell.
