Summary
A single V-shaped ditch, aligned N-S was found during a watching brief undertaken by Wessex Archaeology in May 2001, during groundworks associated with the construction of a new cemetery. This ditch contained some worked flint and some daub fragments, but no closely datable finds. This ditch was probably a Bronze Age field boundary ditch, part of the extensive field system found to the west of Dorchester.

Full Description
A single V-shaped ditch, aligned N-S was found during a watching brief undertaken by Wessex Archaeology in May 2001, during groundworks associated with the construction of a new cemetery.
Ditch 5419 was just over 1m wide and 0.54m deep with a V-shaped profile, with steeply sloping sides and a concave base. It was filled with mid greyish-brown soil. It contained some worked flint and some daub fragments, but no closely datable finds. This ditch was probably a Bronze Age field boundary ditch, part of the extensive field system found to the west of Dorchester.
