Summary

Small length of earlier wall, possibly the base of the Roman town wall is incorporated into the southwest corner of 40 High West Street, Dorchester. A roughly two metre length of stone wall is exposed in the upper part of the cellar in the SW corner of the building.

Full Description

Small length of earlier wall, possibly the base of the Roman town wall was discovered during a cellar survey of 40 High West Street, Dorchester by Valerie Dicker and David Ashford in August 2006. A roughly two metre length of stone wall is exposed in the upper part of the cellar in the SW corner of the building.Some of the irregularities in the wall had been filled in with brick.
