Please read our .

Summary

A small quantity of probable Late Mesolithic flint was recovered from the Wessex Archaeology fieldwalking and excavation at Middle Farm, Dorchester in 1990 and 1992. The flint included a scalene triangle microlith found in a possibly natural feature, a backed bladelet in an Early Neolithic pit and a possible pick or tranchet axe recovered from fieldwalking. This flint is widely scattered, but suggests some limited Late Mesolithic activity in the immediate vicinity. It is important as diagnostically Mesolithic material is virtually unknown in the environs of Dorchester.
