Summary
A drystone wall, possibly dating to the post-Roman period was found during the excavations on the site of the new Dorset County Library, Colliton Park, Dorchester in 1961-63. The drystone wall was found at a higher level than the Roman walls in the area of Oven 7. The size and orientation of this wall have not been recorded. Drystone walling is unusual at any date in Dorchester. No dating evidence was recovered but it is possible that it represents some post-Roman activity in this area.

Full Description
A drystone wall, possibly dating to the post-Roman period was found during the excavations on the site of the new Dorset County Library, Colliton Park, Dorchester in 1961-63 (1) (2). The drystone wall was found at a higher level than the Roman walls on the west side of Oven 7. The size and orientation of this wall have not been recorded. Drystone walling is unusual at any date in Dorchester. No dating evidence was recovered but it is possible that it represents some post-Roman activity in this area.
