Summary

Observations were made in April 1985 following the digging of a trench by contractors along Alington Street, Dorchester. The trench revealed a large pit at least 2.5m across. The pit was not bottomed and the fill consisted almost entirely of early 19th century machine made glass bottles. The pit began some 4m south of the present building line on High West Street and continued for at least 2.5m towards it. A sample of the glass was taken.

Observations were made in April 1985 following the digging of a trench by contractors along Alington Street, Dorchester. The trench revealed a large pit at least 2.5m across.
