Full Description
Founded by John Whetstone in a will dated 28th January 1614. ".. the purchase (1620) ... of a messuage and certain lands at Symondsbury". The almshouse, which stands on the site of the original messuage, consists of four tenements. <1>
The building is shown on OS 1/500 1887 as abutting the road. It has been demolished apart from 8.0 metres of wall with decayed capping fronting Church Street and containing the remains of an obviously old mullioned doorway. To the east of these remains, the land is occupied by a small yard to the east of which is a modern brick building. <3>
