Full Description
(SY 69619045) Just to the West of Icen Way and abutting the north side of the wall, a gallows is shown consisting of two uprights and a cross member. <1>
A hundred years after Speed's plan the gallows was removed from Gallows Hill to Maumbury Rings. It was probably moved about 1700. <1-2>
The area is covered by a modern forecourt and lawn; no trace of antiquity was found. The house-holders knew nothing about the site. The area is a hill-top. <3>
