Full Description

A Stone Bust of Jupiter Tonans was found in the garden of 28 High East Street, Dorchester some time in the 19th century and was held at the Dorset County Museum. Thought by some to be Roman in origin, Moule suggested that it was 17th century in date and may have been a decoration from the grounds of the house succeeding the Franciscan Friary. It is described as a much defaced, over life sized terminal bust of Jupiter Tonans.
