Infant burial 29/31was one of a number of burials revealed during an excavation by Wessex Archaeology in the garden of 8 Albert Road, Dorchester in 1986. The burial was found within a deposit occupation debris containing large quantities of 2nd-late 3rd century AD pottery, oyster shell and charcoal, which overlie the tail of the counterscarp bank of the Roman town defences. The burial is aligned E-W with the upper body to the east. The skull appears to have become detached from the rest of the skeleton and was found to the west. This burial is probably dated to the 3rd-4th century AD.
