Full Description

The Town Pump, Cornhill, consists of a rusticated Portland stone obelisk with tapered squared shaft on a pedestal-base, surmounted by a ball-finial. On the north side is the inscription 'The Town Pump. This obelisk was erected AD 1784 on the site of the cupola or ancient market house'. <1>
