Full Description
Area centred SY 705 990. Strip lynchets. <1>
Small group of strip lynchets are visible on the ground in this area, and on AP CPE/UK/1974/3369. Although some have been almost ploughed out the majority are under pasture and average 1.0m high. They appear to be medieval. <2>
Extensive remains of contour strip lynchets, covering some 25 acres, exist in two groups on the west side of the River Piddle in both Middle and White Lackington Tithings (SY 705 992 - SY 705 988). In 1817 all these remains lay in an area of 'old enclosures'. <3>
