Excavations in a tenement strip at the rear of Keith Motors, High Street, Christchurch, during 1976 (site X13), revealed a small post medieval ditch [F5] with fill dated to the 18th century. This ditch cut a spread of mortar and rubble [5 & 7] associated with the demolition of the medieval town wall in the 13th century. The ditch was aligned approximately SW-NE in line with the wall and may represent a property boundary following the old wall line.
