Full Description
M. Fox for Poole Museums, directed a program of rescue excavation and observation in advance of the Dolphin development, Church Street, Christchurch, during 1974-5 (site X11.2). The results were subsequently published in DNHAS monograph 5 (1).
The observations revealed two early medieval pits [F10, 22]. However, it should be emphasised that the areas between features were not examined in any detail. [F10] contained fragments of several 12th-13th hand made vessels, two with vertical incised line decoration, but was also contaminated with 18th-19th century material.
