Summary
Pillar box. Manufactured c1936 by Carron Co Ltd. Cast iron painted red with black base. Cylindrical box having base, Edward VIII cipher and crown, collection-time panels below and above horizontal letter slit, cornice, and shallow-domed dentilled cap with crescent supporting plate giving direction of Post Office. Stamp dispensing machine fixed to side.
This is one of less than 100 Edward VIII boxes to remain in the country and a well-surviving example.
