Summary

A flame fougasse was situated on West Street, close to the junction with Cowards Lane. Erected as part of the Dorset coastal defences during 1940-41. Now removed.

Full Description

Flame fougasse with four barrels (1 battery). Cassini ref. 003063. This site lies within a Home Guard defended locality which is given the same Cassini ref. This is also termed a 'platoon action station' for the 2nd (Dorchester) Bn. of the Dorset Home Guard. [see also UORN 16408 (1). Site of flame fougasse on West Street, close to the junction with cowards Lane. Erected as part of the Dorset coastal defences during 1940-41. Now removed.
