According to the 25-inch OS maps, there was no quarrying here before 1901 after which developments were stimulated by the opening of the Easton & Church Hope Railway. By 1926, a quarry had been opened immediately SW of a railway branch. Site is now covered with waste and levelled. The quarry had expanded by 1959 when there were two cranes here. The older quarried face, with stockpiles and bank to the east, survived in 1999 at the north end of modern quarry workings.
