Summary
Rectangular excavation, dating from 1980s(?),about 16m deep, through a great depth of Purbeck overburden. Evidence of some quarrying of freestone beds at east end and some at west end. Access via ramp on north side but not at work in 1999. By May 2007, the remaining barrier had been broken through to join this quarry to ‘Perryfield Quarry extension’. The quarry is close to South Windmill at NW corner, which is a cause for concern.
